"Dressed for Halloween!"

I have to say painting is just a wee bit tricky when your model likes to sit THIS close, hehe....

This month's EHAG Emporium offering is an 8" x 10", original acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas, featuring our very own Lady Guinevere, who in her black and orange coat, is ALWAYS dressed for Halloween...

The edges are black and accented with glowing stars, so there's no need for a frame...

This piece is $165 + $15 shipping in the US (international shipping is more), and is available, as always on a first-come basis, after the Emporium updates at 9PM eastern time. To purchase, please email me at carolee@kingofmice.com.

Thanks for visiting, and I'll be back very soon with new work!

"A Midsummer Night's Tea"

Just popping in to share the latest piece, a hand painted, birch wood tea chest or treasure box (with removable dividers)....

I began painting this one on Midsummer's Day, and completed it today, which as it happens is International Fairy Day!

Such a fun piece to paint, and I hope it brings a little *fairy magic* to its new home...

Acrylic on birch wood, finished with a clear, acrylic varnish. Signed and dated on the bottom by the artist (me). Measures 9" x 8 1/2" x 4 1/2".

$285 + shipping and insurance, which will vary by location. Available on a first-come basis, by emailing me at carolee@kingofmice.com . UPDATE ~ SOLD.

Thanks so much for taking a peek, and I'll be back very soon with new work!

Wonderland Madness!

"You're Mad. Bonkers. Off your head. But I'll tell you a secret...all the best people are."

Probably my favorite quote from the movie, and Oh So True, don't you think?

I've been immersed in painting this birch-wood, scalloped edge platter for several days now, and I can't tell you how pleased I am with the result...

There's Alice sipping tea, the Mad Hatter (a little nod to Johnny, hehe), the Caterpillar, the White Rabbit, the Flamingo, the Cheshire Cat, and the Queen of Hearts' castle far off in the background, at the end of the road....

The edge is hand lettered, and bordered in red and white checks....

It's painted in acrylics, and sealed with a non-toxic, acrylic varnish (no food though please - decorative purposes only) and is signed and dated on the back.

I'm making this original, one of a kind, never-to-be-repeated piece available here on my blog on a first come basis.

$325 + shipping, which will vary by location. To purchase, please email me at carolee@kingofmice.com, and thanks for visiting!!  UPDATE ~ SOLD.

Back to Wonderland!

With great delight, I took another tumble down the Rabbit Hole this week, and completed these commissioned coasters...

Soooo much fun to paint, and they'll be joining this lazy susan very soon....

I never seem to tire of painting Wonderland pieces, perhaps because there are so many interesting characters to explore, so many fantastical twists and turns and tales...

So much....well, MUCHNESS, you know?!

In fact, I found the most wonderful scalloped edge platter this week, so stay tuned for another Alice piece next week - this one offered here on the blog on a first-come basis. :)

I'm thinking I must paint an Alice necklace soon too - each wooden bead with a different Wonderland element...

Or maybe an Alice purse - wouldn't that be fun?!

Or a painting! Remember these two?

My head is just spinning with ideas...

Back very soon!

"White Raven"

It's been ages since I've painted one of these rare and magical creatures, so I thought it was high time...

I've read that the gene for the possibility of a white raven is present in only one out of about five hundred of the birds, and the likelihood of that one finding another with the same gene is so astronomical that they are incredibly rare. It is said to be very good luck to see one, and as a totem, they symbolize hope and miracles....

This particular White Raven is painted on a 10" x 10" gallery canvas, with a Celtic knotwork border (no need for framing!) and is available now in my Etsy shop.

Thanks so much for taking a peek at my work, and I'll be back very soon with more goodies!
