It's EHAG Emporium time again, and in keeping with this month's artistic challenge ("Once Upon a Wicked Time" - see previous post), I've painted Little Red Riding Hood and the Big, Bad, Werewolf, hehe....
As Little Red walks through the dark forest on her way to her Grandmother's house, she senses something behind her....but what? The wolf's words border the painting on the outside edge, so it's ready to hang (no need for a frame!)
This original, one of a kind acrylic painting measures 8" x 10 x 1 1/2" deep, and comes to you signed by the artist (me) with a certificate of authenticity included. (The second photo here was pre-varnishing, so appears a little lighter - the black is actually very deep)
$165 + $12 shipping in the US (international is more).
It's available on Wednesday evening's EHAG Emporium (April 30th), which opens at 9PM eastern, and as always will be captured on a first-come basis by emailing me after the update at carolee@kingofmice.com.
Thanks for taking a peek, and I'll be back very soon with new work - Oh, and in the meantime, this beautiful, amber eyed cat is also up for grabs. I think he'd make a wonderful gift for someone with rescues. You'll find him in my Etsy shop...
Until next time,

Once Upon a Wicked Time
As a young child, I remember immersing myself in these old volumes of Grimm's and Andersen's classic Fairy Tales - a gift from my late, Great Aunt Marguerite, my paternal Grandmother's sister...
No modern day, sanitized version were these tales - far from it! These were stories of fair maidens and wicked witches; where unlucky suitors were beheaded, and evil stepsisters had their eyes pecked out by birds. Scary stuff for a child, but instructive too (as was their intent)...Fairy Tales taught me that slow and steady wins the race, that ugly duckings become beautiful swans, that lying is wrong and will get you into a world of trouble, that there's magic and wonder in the world, and that someday, if you're good and kind and virtuous, and work hard, you can live happily ever after.
Now that I'm older (and am in fact living pretty much happily ever after), it's always a joy to revisit these tales in my art - and what better excuse than a "challenge" among EHAG members (Eclectic Halloween Artists' Guild) to create a piece inspired by the more wicked elements of these tales.
The theme "Once Upon a Wicked Time; A Halloween Fairy Tale" is pure inspiration, and I must give credit where credit is due - the brainstorm of daughter Courtney, who conjured it up as a party theme. With her permission, the EHAG group borrowed it, and the art it inspires will make its debut on the EHAG Emporium this month (April 30th, 9PM eastern time).
Little Red Riding Hood? Hansel and Gretel? The Frog Prince? Sleeping Beauty? Rapunzel? Something else? A canvas? A box? A wood panel?
Decisions, decisions, and what fun! Stay tuned to see what we all come up with - and in the meantime, I'll leave you with this:
Until next time, wishing you a bit of *magic*...

Bunny Fluffle
Did you know a group of bunnies is called a fluffle?
Well, it is. How perfectly adorable is that? So here we have a fluffle of bunnies, making their debut on tomorrow's PFATT Marketplace at 10AM pacific/1PM eastern time....
This original, one of a kind piece, is available as always, on a first come basis after the site updates (a tip - go to the link a couple of minutes before the update and keep refreshing the page). The first email I receive after the update will capture the fluffle!
Hope to see you tomorrow!

New Paintings
It's been looooooong winter, hasn't it?
I truly LOVE winter, I do, and generally make an effort to roll with the seasons, living in the moment and experiencing the natural cycle of the year and all it has to offer. But this year, well...Let's just say my head was thinking "spring!" long before Mother Nature was, hehe. And here's the result - a trio of springtime paintings on canvas.
"Celtic Magic"...
"St. Gertrude", patron saint of cats and gardeners...
And "St. Melangell", patron saint of rabbits...
The originals have all sold, but I do hope to have a few prints available in the Etsy shop very soon. In the meantime, there's a special piece coming to this Thursday's PFATT Marketplace (which updates as always at 10AM pacific/1PM eastern time), and another very large piece in progress now titled "All Things Bright and Beautiful" which I hope to list in the Etsy shop very soon.
And next, I'll be breaking out the orange and black again, as work begins for this year's Ghoultide Gathering! Hard to believe it's less than six months away now...
OK, back to work I go, no rest for the wicked and all that. Thanks for visiting, and I'll pop in with a peek at those new pieces in a day or two!
