The thing about snowstorms is they inspire all kinds of creativity and productivity...Too cold to venture out for more than a few minutes, I've spent the last couple of days sipping tea and painting this tres French Witch's herb and potions chest (actually a salt box, whose history you can read about in the eBay listing.:)
I sooooooooo love the detail on this one....
From the scrollwork at the top, to the larger compartment and two drawers, the woodworker's craftsmanship is just beautiful....
I like it's versatility too - that it can be set on a countertop or mantle, or mounted on a wall or hearth... and the possibilities for it's use are endless; a place for keys, wallet, a pet's leash, for herbs and oils in the kitchen, makeup and toiletries in the bath, set on the dressertop as a jewelry chest...so many uses!
After much agonizing I decided to set what I feel is a reasonable reserve on this one (which I'm happy to share if anyone is interested - just email me)...
Switching gears a bit, the next painting will be another cat piece - the Cafe Chat Noir. No details yet, but the colors will be vibrant, and the inspiration comes from the caffiene-like buzz which propels my own cats through the house at 100 MPH in the wee hours of the morning, hehe....
And look for new work on Etsy soon, and a giveaway just for collectors. :)
That's about it for now, except to wish our amazing daughter Courtney the happiest of birthdays! She's 27 today, but don't tell anyone - I'm far too young to have a 27 year old daughter, don't you think? ;)
That's about it for now. Oh - almost forgot! There's a new badge to the right which you can click to find me on facebook. Just send me a message. :)
Until next time.....
