"Double, double toil and trouble"....

..."Fire burn and cauldron bubble"...

Just had to share what's been keeping me so busy the last couple of days; a little footstool with three ghostly witches, and the quote from Shakespeare's "Macbeth" around the edge. Soooooooooo much fun, this one! It's listed on eBay now. :)

You know, this verse used to remind me of act 4, scene 1 of The Scottish Play. But these days, thanks to the soundtrack, it also conjures up images of the Harry Potter movies, hehe....

And tonight's the night! Since this is the final movie, or the first part of it anyway (ETA - I stand corrected! There are two more after this - yay!!) I was toying with the idea of braving the crazy midnight showing, but I left it too late. They're already sold out. So I've put the last movie in our netflix queue, which we'll watch as a bit of a refresher, then probably hit a matinee of "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince" later in the week. If you haven't seen it, here's the trailer.

Much as I LOVE these movies, I loved the books even more, but it's always that way, don't you think? The imagery and characters we create ourselves are always so vivid, so perfect...then the movie comes along and alters our perception. I mean, Daniel Radcliffe IS Harry Potter, yes?

One of my absolute favorite reads is Diana Gabaldon's "Outlander" series. It took friends MONTHS to convince me to give the first book a try, and being a bit of a snob about the historical romance genre (bodice rippers are always soooooooo poorly written) I was sure I'd dislike it. But OMG!! Talk about completely HOOKED, hehe...It's got everything - great characters, Scottish, English, French and American history, time travel, WITCHES....need I say more? I read the first five books in about eight weeks, the sixth as soon as it came out in hardcover, and September 22 will find me at Barnes and Noble as soon as they open the doors, to pick up the seventh book, "An Echo in the Bone". Not that I'm a fanatic or anything. ;)

Anyway, there's been talk of a movie based on the series for years, but I'm not sure I want one. I already have the perfect movie playing in my head. :)

Another favorite book is Marion Zimmer Bradley's "The Mists of Avalon". Has anyone seen the movie? Actually, I think it may have been a television mini-series...I avoided it at the time because I was immersed in the book, but I suppose I could add it to the netflix queue now.

So yes - books and movies, movies and books....Not that I have all that much time for either these days....

EBay, Etsy, The PFATT Marketplace, commissions, the Ghoultide Gathering, Twitter, facebook (yes, I'm on both now)....There just isn't a spare moment. Seriously, I'm beginning to resent the hours I have to spend sleeping, hehe!

Speaking of which, I must fly now (sooooooooo much to do today!) but I'll be back very soon with a little giveaway.

In the meantime, have a magical, creative week - and those of you are seeing the movie - enjoy!!

First of all, I just do love your work. Can't help saying it.
I also loved Mists of Avalon. I had my daughetr (now 24) read it about five years ago, and she loved it too.
I am very jazzed about the Harry Potter movie and will see it sometime this weekend. But I think there are two more movies.
Yes, I almost always like the book better than the movie.

Love this footstool! I also can't wait to see the movie...having read all of the Harry Potter books, I can honestly say that the movies have been done very well. Most times, I am disappointed in a movie after reading the book. I am going to look into the book series that you recommended as I just finished reading the Isabel Allende books and need something new to carry me through the summer. On a side note, I an thrilled to see how busy you are...I have always been a big fan of your work.

Carolee,

Love the stool!!!

Also, YES there are two more Harry Potter movies that will be coming out in the next two years. They are splitting up "Deathly Hallows" into two movies.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I is slated to hit theaters on November 19, 2010.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II is slated to hit theaters on July 15, 2011.

So the fun isn't over yet!!!

Carolee,
There will be two more Harry Potter movies. They are breaking Deathly Hallows into two parts. They have been filming the first of the two parter for a few months now! Cool ...huh? My daughters and I are going Thursday night because of my daughter's side job we can't go opening night. Harry isn't the reason I stopped by...I saw your beautiful new piece on Face Book. Wow, I love it everything about it, it's really beautiful. My father was a Shakespeare fanatic, I was raised on it. Have fun at the movie...and remember "Something wicked this way comes!" (you know who) Blessings, Misty

wow.. this stool is simply stunning! I'm very much wishing I had the money, coz then I'd snap it up! lol!! I've just started watching your blog, but really love your work already!

I'm looking forward to seeing the new HP movie, but probably going to have to wait another couple of weeks before I can go and see it.. but with all the others, I've preferred the books and been somewhat disappointed by the movie versions. So we'll see if this one does any better.

I've read a few of Diana Gabaldon's "Outlander" books (although that was YEARS ago), and absolutely loved them. One of these days I'll add them to my collection and get to read the whole series.

You are the queen of painting! The footstool is lovely, such imagery. Speaking of which, I agree, our imaginations are SO much better than the movies! Plus, the movies usually leave SO much out! Can't wait to see the next Harry movie too, although I'm finishing the book now. (Yes, I was late getting to it.) I will have to try the Outlander series. We'll have to swap reading list suggestion one of these days. Talk soon!...Iva

Love this piece Carolee, agree that books are usually better than the movies, but I won't see the new Harry Potter until it comes out on DVD.

Gorgeous foot stole, I like it. You’re so creative.

I just started reading books lately. I must agree with you, books are so much better than movies. In fact I can’t stop reading it. Now I have to finish reading the half blood prince book before watching the whole movie. Oh! It’s very exciting.
