Delicious Autumn

"Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns." ~George Eliot

I know, I know - the official first day of fall is September 22. But in my mind it is, and always will be, the day after Labor Day. Can't you just feel it in the air?!

As a rule, I try to live in tune with the seasons, savoring each turn of the wheel, enjoying the cycle of the year as it unfolds. But there's a special magic in autumn, don't you think?

Crimson and ochre leaves crunching underfoot; the scent of woodsmoke from nearby farms; jeans and big, comfy sweaters; steaming mugs of hot apple cider (and pumpkin spice lattes, hehe); geese flying south, backyard squirrels gathering their store for the winter ahead; the last herb garden harvest, and the first frost....Heaven!

The dilemma of course is finding time to enjoy all the beauty in the midst of what has become the absolute busiest time of year!! The final painting stretch for the Ghoultide Gathering is here, and I'm determined to make it the best display I've ever had...If you're attending, DO stop by and introduce yourself - the best part of any show is meeting collectors and artist friends in person!!

With that, I'm off to the studio, where there are several treat boxes calling my name....

Wishing you all a very happy - albeit unofficial - first day of Autumn!!

Yes, Autumn is the most exciting season. the food, the decorations, the changes in nature. I can't get enough. Now I need a bouquet of freshly sharpened pencils, and it will really feel like back-to-school ;p

Hey Carolee! Long time no see/write! It's been crazy busy, but I wanted to stop by to say hello to a wonderful person and artist :) Happy unofficial first day of fall to you! :)

ah yes, Autumn. I think what attracts so many people is also the emotional intensity of the season that threads through, often at unawares. Relish this time :D

Summer folds her blowzy skirts and steps behind the heat-tattered curtain. Autumn steps onto the stage accompanied by cool early morning mists. Her glorious dress of crimson, gold and copper blazes through the mist as she raises her arms and with a gesture leaves behind a rime of frost on the land. Delicious and magical indeed. Love the post Carolee!
