Veterans Day

Since today is the Day we celebrate Veterans Day here in the US, and with Christmas fast approaching, I have to share this video. The artist is folk singer John McCutcheon, and the subject is the Christmas Truce of 1914. I'm not sure if this will appear as a link, or if you'll have to cut and paste. It's about six minutes long, but well worth the watch:

Hi Carolee, I watched the 'Christmas In The Trenches' video. Very interesting that on the 1914 W.W.I Christmas there was a truce. War isn't like that today. No formalities, only killing 24/7. I remember coming home from high school & watching the television news updates during the Vietnam War. AND everyday hundreds of American soldiers were reduced to the term casualties, 58,000 + casualties to be exact. I lost high school friends & most importantly my cousin who was awarded the Purple Heart (given to his family) for throwing himself on a live hand grenade & saving 22 marines that were part of his coastal transport troop.

I also wrote about Veterans Day in my Blog. It's about that most famous Veteran's Poem that has become synonymous with all the Armed Forces Day memorials. It is now the mantra to all pilots...

Thank you for your lovely comments too, I really appreciate them. Hope everything has calmed down a bit for you & yours. Get rest too Carolee, it's important that you stay well too!

((((((Love & Healing Hugs))))), Lyndy
